we are people who skate, who skate and work together to make skateboards that we like to skate... and in between skating them, we sell them to people who like to skate them... and we don't really know what anybody is talking about with some "industry" thing out there...

as far as Fickle Boards is concerned, we're just like, "Let's go skate!" and if you're "better" or "worse" isn't even on our minds. We just learn off you and you learn off us and we're STOKED...

Our boards get made in PA or in the home shop press here in Cincinnati, and we sell them to your shop or to you directly out of Old Lew's HOUSE! So when you get one, it's all handled by our crew...

Especially Sunshine, Weston, Native and Ben help out with shrink wrapping your freebies and stickers in there...

...and we are working every day to make sure your shop and you can get Fickle Boards on time and pressed right, because WE love to skate good wood and that's what we want to share with you.

We look forward to the day when we're screening all our boards by hand ourselves in the shop here. It's coming fast, so if you get one with a small flaw, soon, please count it as authenticity points and enjoy the quality as you skate and destroy. If you get one you really like, slap some rails on it, or take a pic before you smear it.

Everywhere we turn...

...we find people bummed out by low quality pressing, punky soft wood that loses POP the second day, flatten out, breaks without reasonable cause... people aren't expecting miracles from the companies that they're buying from, just "good" quality.

We get it. That's why we have chosen to work with Pennswood for the last 2 years. They consistently produce excellent wood quality, even if getting the dimensions or colors perfect is sometimes an issue. 



No wood shop walks on water, but Fickle's wood to date has always sold out because of our STANDARDS, and Pennswood's ability to meet them.

After 26 years of skating (i'm 37), and working on various industry related stuff, I realized that there CAN be amazing quality, if we don't Chase the dollar so hard.

So Fickle is now shifting gears to finish up our shop in Cincinnati. We still offer Pennsylvania wood. We still come skate with you. Now we also press, cut  and screen wood for you. It is our honor to make some of our own mistakes for a change.

this is day 4 and so far we have seshed flopa, dry ridge, stayed over in lex area, hit knoxville, the boardroom, then dropped boards on our former knox rep's kids, got free gas, headed to ashevilleNC, met locals, slept in walmart parkinglot, visited push, hit ZG, dropped love, shredding and boards, skated hendersonvillmingtonberg till late, missioned to GA, and nnow we are about to skate with boatwright and dave allen.

Okay look. A lotta stuff happened. The guys weren't even thinking about being in the comp. they were just sessioning the ramp and I'm like "you oughtta ask if they want you in the comp" and the vans guys were like "yeah man", because Ben, Wes and Josh were really making the ramp fun.

I mean it's like they're like joking and clapping and laughing and smiling and just having joy, you know? That's what's going on with Fickle.

Now, odds are, you're looking at the footy and saying, "I'm more superior than these guys are, where's my prize?" Well, first off, you might be (but probly not.Josh and wes and ben pretty much rip with massive massive style) heck, you might deserve the moon on a spoon, but we can't give it to you. so relax, breathe, and get out there and go thirty, honey...

For all you superior heads out there, we'll give you a free sticker and try to learn a trick off you, cos we don't need to be better than you to stand tall. we rep the highest quality wood that's being produced, sourced closer than any other. It doesn't travel across oceans, a border, or the rocky mountains to get to you, unless you are our australian customers. sorry mates if it arrives all dried out. squeeze some lemon over it.

Proper wood, skated with joy

elijah and toothy francis took places in the Cosmic Invasion comp a week ago, but all that was overshadowed by Leonard Ledford's broken ankle problem, arising from harsh snaking in the jam... Leonard, you are a ripper and you will be again. We're all rootin for you to stay sane while you wait...

Elijah got 2nd in the advanced stuff, honored to stand next to Cole Wilson. He also got a best rail trick prize.
Francis got 1st in the intermediate level stuff and got bumped up to full flow with Fickle. Toothy is a great rider because he's a humble and cool person, first off. When you skate with him you get better because he's getting better every day.

Thanks to alan and kenitha for all the prize schwag, and for working so hard to put quality events together in Lex, Louisville, Florence, and Cincinnati through their shops.

Boatwright's getting gnarly

With Fickle Boards, it's not just the sheer radness of Boatwright's properly tucked in back knee frontside air at Mountain Park last Sunday... it's not only the fact that he's OUT THERE every day shredding pools and bowls, in his 30's... it's not just that he's holding down a professional life as a physical therapist guy on top of this siiiick shredding... It's that on top of all that, he's one of the most chill, approachable, kind dudes out there, stoked to get you shreddin too.

oh yeah. Will is our guy in ATL. You wanna talk to Fickle? You gonna have ta talk ta Will.

...all we're sayin is that the wood is so good that not many people are going back to normal stuff... you know, the stuff that's traveled by plane and trane and truck to get to you, stale from some chinese freighter or some hot warehouse on the border, or if you're lucky maybe some warehouse in a state 2 weeks' drive away...

Will Boatwright Does it Again!

Our very own Will Boatwright skated to a 2nd place finish in the "Skate It Away" anti-cancer comp at Brook Run last week. ATL Skater, Nick Scott, First place winner Kaden Campbell, and all the other sponsors and people who made it all happen: THANK YOU FOR A GREAT DAY!
