canada

wood... good wood...

...comes from Canada. Period.

Long, cold winters, year after year, really put the hardness in the rings of those maple trees...

The maple coming from the US is often grown in warmer conditions, save a couple of places where it's good and wicked cold all winter... but those long Canadian winters are really really the way to get that maple hardened up. That's the difference between "Hard Rock Maple" and the plain "Sugar Maple" wood out there. The Coldness!

So Old Lew is on the phone to Canada, talking to the good folks at our wood supplier up there! Ironically, Lew speaks a good piece of French, so it is real fun for him...

But is it any wonder that so much skateboarding lands itself up North? Canada has some of the most well-executed skatepark builds in the world. We all can't wait to get up there in the coming years and shred parks and city streets.

Yeah, Canada is much overlooked, but that's where some of the very best skaters come from. Per Capita, I'd say they're ahead of the pack... dogsledding image there.

Peace out, Canada!
