News Update No. 47

Hey all you out there who wonder what is up with Fickle!

Here's the skinny:

1. Keypark.

Yes, you've all heard the rumor that in the gnarliest neighborhood in Cincy, Fickle has resurrected a derelict warehouse to be our home training facility. it is true. we have. it is.

Some lucky few will be welcomed into "key membership" as well. These are people who help maintain and develop the place. They get keys for their contributions... it is an awesome thing to have your own warehouse miniramp with spine and vert wall and mass other stuff...

2. Board Press:

...and by now you all know that Fickle has stopped the frustrating journey of buying pre-made popsicle boards from Pennsylvania, where Joe at pennswood continues to make the very very best quality boards produced in all of skateboarding, period. Can we say it again? Pennswood makes the best quality, the best shapes, the best concaves... period. In all of skateboarding...

how can we say that and not use them? Because our press is nearing it's final phase of development and is almost ready to make our own amazing wood. We are humble about this, realizing that it'll take until spring to get a line of wood out to the general public, but we are not stopping, and things are almost 100 percent!

So Fickle will have wood out in the Spring that will definitely Rock because it's truly made HERE, by people who skate Today! The quality will be the best we can do, and there's no pressure on us to cut any corners!

We are also excited because we will be able to Cold Screen all of our own graphics! That means no hot pressed on heat transfers!

So Fickle isn't dead, just waiting to emerge in the spring... like a butterfly!!!

3. Ramps!!!
Fickle was instrumental in the build of Andy's Ramp, here in Northside Cincinnati, and Matt's Ramp went up at the same time we were building the warehouse park! So this has been the year of building ramps, presses, screen printing rooms... and RAMPS!

Heck, i just got done skating with Andy, and his ramp is epic, if I do say so myself! We love building ramps with our friends!

4. Screen Printing!!

Fickle has a screen press, now. so that's going on. Hats, shirts, stickers... all for the spring... all coming up! Woot!

In Conclusion:

So you can easily see that Fickle Boards has gone from your typical cookie-cutter company that has a factory make it's boards and screen it's logos and art on there...

...to being a crew that is intimately involved with this stuff from start to finish! If hard rock maple grew in Cincinnati, we'd get our own Logging operation started, too, just to get closer to the process!

So you can look forward to reliable quality, innovative (or retro) shapes, great concaves, and fresh-made art to come from the Fickle Laboratory! All on a small-batch basis, all by skaters, all for skaters.

...and ALL FOR FUN!!!

now go thirty!
